Review guidelines
Camden Portal works because locals trust it. Keep reviews honest, fair and useful.
- Locals only. Reviews are for people who live in the Camden area. Pick your real suburb when you sign up.
- Your own experience. Only review a business you’ve actually used, and describe what happened to you.
- A real photo. Every review needs a photo you took: the meal, the finished job, the shop. Don’t use photos from the internet.
- No conflicts of interest. Don’t review your own business, a business you work for, a family member’s business, or a competitor.
- No paid or incentivised reviews. Don’t accept money, discounts or gifts for a review. Businesses can ask customers to review them, but must not offer anything in return, or only ask happy customers.
- Be fair. Criticism is fine. Abuse, discrimination, threats and personal attacks aren’t. Don’t name or describe individual staff in a hurtful way, and don’t share anyone’s personal details.
- Stick to facts and opinions. Say what happened and what you thought. Don’t accuse anyone of a crime.
Points and badges
You earn points for writing reviews, adding photos, being first to review a business and getting “helpful” votes. You get the same points whatever rating you give, so there’s never a reason to be anything but honest.
For businesses
- Claim your listing to update your details and reply to reviews.
- Badges like Camden-owned and Family business are what you tell us. Keep them true.
- Reply to reviews politely. If a review breaks these guidelines, use “Report this review” rather than arguing in public.
- Tradies: add your NSW licence number so we can check it on the Fair Trading register.
Events
Anything happening in the Camden area is welcome, with a real photo or poster and accurate details. No spam or ads dressed up as events.
Admins can remove reviews, listings and events that break these guidelines, and suspend accounts.
